Bib & Tucker - Fremantle

Something amazing happened in Perth over the summer. All of a sudden, a huge crop of beach side restaurants and cafes sprouted and my Instagramming heart skipped a beat and then sank into a pile of quick sand. School holidays had to pass so I could adventure out and try them all. However, when the time came to choose a relaxing dining experience by the sea, I went old school. The first place that popped in my head was Bib & Tucker. The visit was overdue.

My four-year-old has started Kindergarten this year so I’ve had to swing quick breakfasts while he has half days for the first month. I beat the traffic down to Fremantle and had time to spare. Parking is ample due to the adjoining surf lifesaving club so I had no issues in that regard. I chose to be seated outside despite the day’s horrible humidity. The view was quite nice though inside, the rustic, eclectic stying is quite pretty too.

My sweet tooth settled on the banana pancakes, my lovely friend Diary of Ange chose the fruit platter and her son ate and shared his banana bread with passionfruit butter. The fluffy buttermilk pancakes went down a treat and very filling but not heavy. The mascarpone on top was a bit bland but, when mixed through the butterscotch sauce, was fair enough. I originally requested a cold brew with milk but unfortunately, after waiting and having to request where my missing drink was, I was informed that they were out of cold brew. Instead, I settled for an iced latte which was smooth and refreshing.

I would definitely pay Bib & Tucker further visits as I’m quite keen to try out their lunch and dinner menus. The comfortable, friendly service and relaxed yet polished beach vibe at their eatery will call be back soon.
